12-WEEK DBT BASED SKILLS PROGRAMME FOR HIGH SCHOOL TEENS AND ADOLESCENTS
In this group, adolescents learn and practise skills they can use to:
- Deal with Teenage & Family Challenges
- Regulate emotions and behaviour
- Enhance mood – deal with emotional dysregulation and impulsivity
- Improve relationships and engage in effective problem solving and communication
- Address confusion about self
While our minds can sometimes sabotage us, our neuroplasticity allows for more introspection, flexibility, and mindfulness. It’s helpful to know what steps to take when those disruptive thoughts arise: We feel anxious, flooded, overwhelmed, and exasperated.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) offers skills training for understanding and addressing difficulties associated with mood swings, impulsive behaviour (including self-harm), interpersonal difficulties and chronic low self-esteem.
DBT focuses on emotional regulation, mindfulness, and acceptance. The end goal of this skills training workshops is to combat self-harming behaviours and learn emotional regulation.
EMOTION REGULATION SKILLS
Emotion dysregulation
Emotional vulnerability; emotional reactivity; emotional lability; angry outbursts; steady negative emotional states such as depression, anger, shame, anxiety, and guilt; deficits in positive emotions and difficulty in modulating emotions.
INTERPERSONAL EFFECTIVENESS SKILLS
Interpersonal dysregulation
Unstable relationships, interpersonal conflicts, chronic family disturbance, social isolation, efforts to avoid abandonment, and difficulties getting wants and needs met in relationships and maintaining one’s self-respect in relationships.
DISTRESS TOLERANCE SKILLS
Behaviour dysregulation
Impulsive behaviours such as cutting classes, blurting out in class, spending money, risky sexual behaviour, risky online behaviours, bingeing and/or purging, drug and alcohol abuse, aggressive behaviours, suicidal and non-suicidal self-injurious behaviour.
WALKING THE MIDDLE PATH (WISE MIND)
Cognitive dysregulation and family conflict
Non-dialectical thinking and acting (i.e., extreme, polarized, or black-or-white), poor perspective taking and conflict resolution, invalidation of self and other, difficulty effectively influencing own and others’ behaviours (i.e., obtaining desired changes).
CORE MINDFULLNESS SKILLS
Self-dysregulation
Lacking awareness of emotions, thoughts, action urges; poor attentional control; unable to reduce one’s suffering while also having difficulty accessing pleasure; identity confusion, sense of emptiness, and dissociation.

We teach you how to start and run your own profitable business and even provide the product! You can start a lucrative business and earn a good income. Should you wish to, you may continue with the business upon conclusion of the year.
